"The Story of One Painting"

I met Thibaud during his artists residency in Princeton, NJ. USA.

I was amazed at the world of his studio, where many, many works were in progress, and was always intrigued (and sometimes dismayed) to witness the results of a days labour. Paintings that seemed fully realized one day would be utterly reworked the next; colors and images that seemed to have found their proper place would disappear under other colors and other images. And then again...

In thinking about the depth of Thibaud's work and working style, I felt that it could be uniquely served by describing itself - that is, if he would be willing to work on a painting using a somewhat painstaking filming method. He was.

And so, this movie was a collaboration between painter and videographer to document all the lives of one painting.
